Microsoft announced end of life for support of Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2 in 2015. You may already be aware from our communications over the past year that the extended support period for these ends on 14 January 2020.
This can affect telephony systems as well so it's important that you understand possible impacts and risks for your business. This is particularly applicable to customers using Mitel phone systems and Xarios software, for example Call Recorder, Customer Service Manager or Phone Manager.
If your telephony solution is using hardware that runs Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7, this end of support affects you.
In particular, for applications that we support, any issues you raise after 14 January 2020 may not be able to be resolved as quickly or as easily. In some cases, issues may not be able to be resolved.
Additionally, continued usage of these operating systems on your network will leave you more exposed to security risks such as cyber-attacks, viruses or malware and ransomware.
What to do next
We strongly recommend upgrading hardware to the latest version of the O/S where possible.
Please contact us or call 0800 652 4888 to discuss your upgrade roadmap with your Account Manager. If the latest O/S is unable to be installed on your hardware, we can also advise on the best options.
If you’ve already upgraded, or are in the process of doing so, and encounter issues with the supported applications after completion of the upgrade, please contact our Service Desk on 0333 043 4060.
