Microsoft announced last year that Skype for Business will be reaching its end of life on 31st July 2021.

Microsoft Teams is replacing Skype for Business, in a superior platform which includes a huge number of additional features and capabilities.

With just one year left to go, if you haven’t planned your migration to Teams yet, now’s the time. There are no advantages in leaving it until the last minute, as Microsoft have already stopped significant investment in Skype for Business, with all investment now focused on developing Teams.

The homeworking increase seen during lockdown has accelerated the development of many new Teams features, and has also seen a steep uptake in migration to the platform, as businesses see the significant advantages offered.

Teams saw its number of daily active users jump to over 75 million in April 2020 as a result of lockdown, representing a 37% growth in the space of just one month.

With homeworking set to continue at significant levels over the coming months, use of Teams is becoming ingrained into many businesses, leaving the remaining Skype for Business users at risk of being left behind.
